MORE TOMATOES

These are photos of the two different plants. img_0625.JPGimg_0626.JPGThe topsy turvy plant is not doing very well. Partly, I think, because in lowering it and lifting it to water it, I split the main stalk and taped it back together.  Also it doesn’t get as much sun as it probably needs.  Anyway it now has a few tomatoes on it. The picture was taken with the macro setup and the tomatoes are not as large as they may appear in the photo. The other plant is doing great guns, and has a ton of tomatoes on it and nearly ripe now.  I will be giving some away I am sure.

So what’s an experiment for but to discover the results? Nothing hurt in the attempt. Fresh tomatoes epitomize August, along with fresh corn on the cob, fresh beans and fresh peaches. All anyone needs besides that is a bit of grilled chicken/pork/steak/salmon. Umm…August.

Last night I had pieces of a tomatoe that came from a neighbor’s garden that actually was noticeably better tasting than just about any raw tomatoe I ever had. Normally I choke ’em down but last night’s salad was really good. I remember as a kid how much you liked tomatoes (at least I think I do) so you should be in for a treat.

I am assuming that was a typo and not a Dan Quayleism.

Touche Debra, and I assume you are referring to your better half. I just can’t trust myself so consulted my dictionary and singular of tomato is “tomato”, but plural of tomato is tomatoes. So far I don’t think I am guilty of a Dan Quayleism, but Bruce is.

And, yes, I really like tomatoes, in fact I like just one tomato, and really liike stewed tomatoes with a little bit of spice added..

Bruce is the guilty one but while we are on the subject of spelling errors, check out your spelling of Deborah. Hmmmmm.

Try cutting a large tomato in half, sprinkle with a little salt, pepper, olive oil and top with shredded parmesan cheese. Broil. Mmmmmm.

I just had the first of the cherry tomatoes from our one little plant, hidden in the midst of the herbs and flowers 🙂 When Kim lived with us four!! years ago now, she’d pull them off the stalks as she came in and just pop them into her mouth as is.

Hey Deb that tomato thing sound real good, I will try it when mine get ripe.

It was mother who didn’t like tomatoes.
